About AWR Surgeons' Community
The AWR Surgeons’ Community is arguably the most dynamic group of surgeons in the world. We are largely based out of India, but not restricted to it, with our members present in all the continents (Antarctica does not count).
At nearly 5000 strong, the diversity of the group is astonishing. There are young residents and fellows in training as well as Heads of Departments, Deans and Principals of major medical institutions, all at the same level of membership.
AWR DEEP IMPACT - 2023
In 2023, we brought up another blockbuster event “AWR Deep Impact” at New Delhi, almost as a 5th anniversary of the 2018 meeting. This academic feast had renowned International and national faculty who shared their knowledge and experiences. The conference had exclusive courses by the masters in the field to enhance the skills of fellow surgeons. Live surgeries included the newest and most exciting developments in surgery, including Fasciotens and robotic AWR, led by their innovators themselves. It was a massive gathering where 1500 hernia surgeons from all over the world participated to bring about a hernia extravaganza. The next one will be Deep Impact: AWR Surge, March 2025 in Chennai, and you may want to block your dates now!

- Be a pillar of the International Hernia Registry that will guide our decisions and respond to challenges from our colleagues, insurance carriers, health care providers, governments and the public.
- COEs would be considered an invaluable resource for training and research.
- COEs would be eligible to have the Fellowship programs of AWRSC.
- They would naturally be part of multicentric trials and publications.
- It would be a major branding for hospital practice and conferences/meetings.
- The AWRSC will endeavor to help patients find their choice of COEs.
